Understanding how to configure System Center Orchestrator for DPM automation

This section will cover how to connect your System Center Orchestrator server to DPM, so that you can start your automation journey.

System Center Orchestrator is a graphical automation tool that you can use to get started with your automation concepts. The automation concept for System Center Data Protection Manager is based on the fact that the integration pack for DPM uses Windows PowerShell remoting on the Runbook Designer and on the Runbook server to run commands on the DPM server.

The WinRM service is started automatically but has no listener configured; this is something that needs to be done before you automate DPM using Orchestrator.

Here are some steps to configure a successful connection between System Center Data Protection Manager 2012 R2 and System Center Orchestrator 2012 R2:

  1. Add the SORCHSVC account to the local admin group of the targeted servers for automation
