Number portability 

Okay, let's be honest here. Number portability sucks—at least in the United States. Some forum posts seem to indicate it can be quite bad in Europe too. Frankly, it's kind of a small miracle that we have it at all. Laws were passed to require phone companies to allow it, but the process is slow and often severely underfunded. In many cases, phone providers know that this is the last thing you'll do before you say goodbye, so they have no incentive to make the process of switching quick or painless. 

So, as nice as it is that Microsoft provides an online form to port your numbers into Office 365, the reality is that you should proceed carefully, be well prepared, and understand the process fully. After all, failure to do so could lead to...
