Using Warp Stabilizer as a virtual tripod


Warp Stabilizer is one of those filters that you will probably use a lot more than you think you might. Anytime a shot is made without a tripod, you'll probably need to add this filter to smooth out the small hand movements of the cameraperson that look large on the screen. In this task, you will revisit the Rain_in_Greece.avi clip in order to smooth out the obvious hand-held jitters in this short clip.

Engage Thrusters

Stabilize your footage by following these steps:

  1. Create a new sequence. Don't worry about the settings, but rename it Warp Stabilizer.

  2. Drag-and-drop the Rain_In_Greece.avi file from the Project panel onto Video 1, and press backslash to zoom the Timeline to the duration of this clip.

  3. Switch to the Effects browser (Shift + 7), and type Warp into the Search field.

  4. Locate the Warp Stabilizer filter, and drag it onto the Rain_In_Greece.avi clip on Video 1.
