Tracking configuration changes
JIRA keeps track of the changes made to issues but not its configuration changes, such as workflows and permissions. This becomes increasingly important when you have more than one administrator, or if your organization is in a tightly regulated industry where audit reports are needed to ensure conformity to regulations.
In this recipe, we will look at how to keep track of the configuration changes in JIRA. Note that this feature is only available in JIRA 6.2 and newer.
How to do it…
We first need to enable the auditing feature in JIRA:
- Navigate to Administration | System | Audit Settings.
- Click on the Enable button to enable configuration change tracking.
Once you have enabled configuration tracking, all changes from that point onward will be automatically logged. You can view the audit logs by navigating to Administration | Audit Log:
