Portal resources management via policies
As of Version 6.1, IBM WebSphere Portal resources can be managed by policies. Policies are collections of settings that determine how different classes of users will perform functions on portal resources. This is ideal for sites with large user populations, where these management tasks would be otherwise much more time-consuming without these policies. User groups, pages themes, client types, caches, and composite applications are sample target resources that can be managed by policies.
