Configuring automated actions
When a criterion is met, a workflow rule's actions (remember, the That part of the IFTTT acronym) are executed, immediately or with a time-dependent rule (such as 5 days after the record created date or 1 hour after the last update event).
The framework delivers the following kind of actions (all available for Workflow Rules and approval processes, which we'll cover in the next chapter):
Field update
Task
Email alert (available on Process Builder and Flows as well)
Outbound message
We'll describe every kind of automated action with our example opportunity workflow rule in the following sections.
Field update action
The first automated action we'll see is the field update action, which is used to update a record field (for example, to increase a case's priority if a certain customer is important).
