Deciding When to Use Groups versus Components
When modeling, it can sometimes be confusing to decide between using a group versus a component. They are both objects, and both fully align with the object rules we discussed earlier. However, components are much more complex, and we will discuss these complexities in Chapters 9 and 10.
So, when do we use a group and when do we use a component? There are a few suggested rules that will make your model and your workflow more efficient. There is no “penalty” for using one over another, but you might get frustrated with yourself! Some general guidelines are listed in the following table:
