Chapter 8: Metrics to Measure the Platform Outcome
In the previous chapter, we understood that an operating model explains the way and structure in which organizations create value for their customers. We also looked at the various components of the operating model. We learned that the most significant difference between the operating model for a linear product and the platform is the structure that focuses on creating value for one dimension of customers versus the entire ecosystem. We discussed the team structure that is effective for platforms and we also learned about the governance model needed for the smooth functioning of those teams. We also discussed the elements of the Platform Ways of Working, including culture, skill development, and roles and responsibilities.
