Summary
In this chapter, we covered the aspects of launching the platform. We understood that the overall process or the steps to launch a platform are like for any other product, but the execution of each step is different. For example, during the platform's launch, the price point of the product or the service should be attractive to both consumers and producers, which is not the case for linear products. Hence, if there are any free trial periods, they must be offered to both producers and consumers.
We should think creatively about what the trial period for producers means. Apart from the price point and offers, there are other aspects where product managers must think differently and creatively when launching a platform versus a linear product. For example, the target audience for the launch, the city and region of the launch, pre-launch communications, and so on should all be decided and designed for the multidimensional nature of the platform.
