Redefining styles

When you have created a style, sometimes you will want to update the style later, for example, to change the font face, alter the fill color, adjust the spacing, or alter other properties. This process is known as redefining the style.

In this recipe, we will look at how to use overrides to redefine your styles quickly and easily, as well as how to redefine styles quickly from the Paragraph Style Options dialog box.

Getting ready

In order to complete this recipe, simply open InDesign on your system and create a new document with 12 pages, as shown in the Creating a new document recipe in Chapter 1. You should be comfortable creating and applying paragraph styles as shown in the Creating paragraph styles recipe.
