Social engineering directly infiltrates the target users, convincing them to readily hand over identification information or actively execute an action to assist the attacker. In terms of online identity, the most common kind of attack is phishing, in which the attacker forces the victim to expose their online identity data to a website controlled by the attacker.
Social engineering assaults, which use psychological manipulation to deceive and exploit victims, pose major threats to both individuals and organizations. These assaults do not rely on advanced technological vulnerabilities, but rather on the human factor, using trust, curiosity, fear, and other emotions to obtain unauthorized access to sensitive data, systems, or resources. Data breaches, financial loss, reputational harm, and compromised network security are some of the major hazards that are connected to social engineering assaults.
