The following procedure explains how to delete a hosted zone using the Amazon Route 53 console.
Deleting a public hosted zone
Getting ready
Deleting a hosted zone will destroy the current routing, hence take a backup before making any changes. Also, you can delete the hosted zone if there are no resource record sets associated with it, that is, before deleting the hosted zone we need to delete the records.
How to do it...
- Sign into the AWS console, click on Route 53, and then click on Hosted zones.

- Select the hosted zone that you want to delete.
