Next-level outreach and driving engagement

In the previous section, where I described the marketing runway, you could characterize each of those tools in terms of “community management” or “inbound marketing,” meaning tooling to help manage the engagement for those coming to your project. I see many projects stop there, as the social media effect, along with word of mouth gives the project the attention it feels it needs.

But sometimes, to be successful, that isn’t enough; for a project that is useful broadly across many different industries and locales, it will be challenging to get the word out through social media and word of mouth alone. Further, a more complex project such as a framework or development tool might require the user to be more educated or the use cases on where and how to best use the tool to be outlined.
