In the previous sections, you were reminded that Scrum and its scaled variants are frameworks, and that DA is considered a toolkit. So you might be wondering what the difference is. DA certainly shares the elements of a framework in that it serves as a container for implementing various Lean–Agile practices. But DA is also a toolkit as it contains listings of useful techniques across common desired process outcomes in the context of product development.
In this sense, the DA toolkit is also a knowledge base of useful techniques. But no matter how many techniques are available, they are only useful if we know when and how to apply them. That is the subject of the next section on the use of Process Goal Diagrams.
