Creating the landscape

In this section, we will create the landscape around our mushroom. For the landscape, we will be using a plane primitive and Proportional Editing. Let's do this now:

  1. Click the Layout tab at the top of the interface to change to the Layout workspace.
  2. Create a new Plane primitive by pressing Shift + A and select Mesh | Plane.
  3. With the plane selected, press S and then type 10 to scale it to 10 m.
  4. Apply the scale by pressing Ctrl + A and selecting Scale from the drop-down menu.

  1. Next, we need to subdivide our plane so we have enough geometry to create our landscape. With the plane selected, press Tab to enter Edit Mode.
  2. Press 3 to activate Face Select mode.
  3. Click on the plane's Face to select it.
  4. Right-click on this Face to bring up the Face context menu and select Subdivide from the dropdown.
