Creating and customizing your own container image

Hopefully, by now, you're excited about the possibilities of containers. Maybe you're thinking about some of the existing applications you've got and how you might distribute them via containers. Wouldn't it be nice for your developers to just send you a complete container that you can just spin up without having to worry about any of the installation issues?

Although creating your own container images is not something every system administrator will have to do in their lifetime, I find it's very helpful to understand what goes into making a container image in the first place. This will help you understand what's going on behind the scenes when you're using someone else's images, or if your own developers need assistance with theirs.
