Connections are an alternative to creating relationships between entities. Connections are a special type of many-to-many relationship. To use connections, an entity must be enabled for connections, as shown in the following screenshot:
Once enabled, a user can connect a record in the entity to a record in another entity that is also enabled for connections using the Connect button in the action bar of a model-driven app form, as shown here:
Clicking on To Another opens the connection from where a user can select the other record. The following screenshot shows connecting to a custom entity for a social media account:
