Working with the Go to Next State action

In this section, you will explore another use case for multi-state objects. The goal is to show you how diverse and flexible this feature is. To illustrate this use case, you will work on slide 7. You will add an image, define multiple custom states, and use the Go to Next State action to create another interesting interaction.

The steps are as follows:

  1. Use the Filmstrip to go to slide 7 of the Chapter05/takeTheTrain.cptx file.
  2. Use the Media | Image icon on the toolbar to insert the Chapter05/images/scheduleDetail.png image file.
  3. Move and resize the image so it fits in the center of the slide. To speed up your work and make it easier, use the tools covered earlier (such as the Align toolbar, the Smart Guides, holding down the Shift key while resizing the images, and so on).
  4. With the image selected, use the Properties inspector to give it the following name: img_scheduleDetail.
  5. If there is no Continue button in the bottom-right corner of the slide...
