In this chapter, we will demonstrate some of the use cases for PowerShell in Azure Cloud Shell, as well as how to use PowerShell to control your Azure resources, through either JSON templates or native cmdlets. We will walk through creating a working IaaS solution in the cloud, consisting of a typical application that requires a full-blown SQL server, with customized settings, a domain environment, and a domain-joined web server. All IaaS machines can be connected to your on-premises environment with a VPN gateway.
We will cover the following topics in this chapter:
- Azure 101
- PowerShell in Azure Cloud Shell
- Resource group deployment with JSON and PowerShell
- Individual deployment with PowerShell
