Connecting the gripper to the chassis


The gripper can be easily mounted to the metal chassis of the Mini Robot Rover using two screws and nuts (Figure 7.10):

Assembling electronics

Follow the instructions given here to assemble the electronics on the Mini Robot Rover chassis. Use Figure 7.11 to make connections between all the electronic components:

  1. Take the Arduino UNO and mount it on the metal plate using the #4-40 machine screws and nuts. Use a piece of cardboard between the metal chassis and the Arduino to prevent the bottom of the Arduino from touching the metal robot chassis and shorting out.
  2. Take the Adafruit Motor/Stepper/Servo Shield for Arduino v2 Kit - v2.3 and stack it on the Arduino UNO.
  3. Connect the DC motors to the motor shield. The left DC motor should be connected to port M1 of the Motor Shield. The right DC motor should be connected to port M2 of the Motor Shield.
  4. Screw the top plate standoffs into the mounting holes near the center...
