Bluetooth technology was first made for small-distance data transfer, but we are now pushing the limits by implementing it in various scenarios. Indoor navigation is one of the scenarios where Bluetooth has made its mark. Since its early adoption in cellular phones, it has been steadily progressing at an exponential rate. But in order to keep up with information technology, this technology had to fashion itself with the support of the Internet of Things. Thus, the Bluetooth SIG decided to revise the very architecture of Bluetooth (in version 4.0), replacing it with a low-power, simpler, and stronger version. One of the advantages of this Bluetooth Low Energy architecture is that it can be used for many simple yet practical implementations.
