A NAT gateway allows instances in a private subnet to initiate a connection to the internet, for example, for essential operating system updates, but it prevents any inbound access to the private subnet being initiated from the internet.
Now it's time to create our NAT gateway:
- Select NAT Gateways from the VPC Dashboard menu on the left and select the blue Create NAT Gateway button:
- Configure the NAT gateway by selecting Public_Subnet for the subnet and then select the Create New EIP button to populate Elastic IP Allocation ID. A NAT gateway uses Elastic IP (EIP) addresses for its addressing:
- Select Create a NAT Gateway and then select Close to go to the confirmation message.
Your NAT gateway will now be deployed within your Public_Subnet using an EIP.
