Putting it all together

Everything that we have gone over in this chapter was to build the foundation of knowledge required to use Python and ArcPy to access ArcGIS Online web services. We reviewed the ArcGIS Online REST API, URL parameters, feature sets, and ArcGIS Online tokens. Now we will be using all these components to build a script that will take the location of points from ArcGIS Online and update the location of those points in a file geodatabase. Let’s say you are a water utility and you have staff in the field updating the location and/or attribute information of your fire hydrant data. This is a useful way to automatically update your on-premise data with the data collected in the field.
