Summary

By complying with the WCAG 2.0 and the WAI-ARIA guidelines, digital products will inevitably be of a higher quality. The perception is that making a digital product accessible is not only costly, but also very time consuming, as you need developers and designers who specialize in web accessibility to implement these changes. This perception is not true. Even though some of these web accessibility guidelines seem quite complex, there are several free online tools available, of which the WAVE browser extension is exceptionally useful, to help find accessibility issues and provide guidelines on how to fix them. It’s not about having a specialized skill in web accessibility, but in focusing on usability as a whole for all users.
